We are looking for a Technician Phytopathology to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Brooks,OR.

As a Technician Phytopathology you will provide technical support for research and development activities in a Phytopathology program. Screening, discovery and characterization of disease resistance in carrot and onion. Assist program in the development of greenhouse, growth chamber and field disease screens for the purpose of varietal development. Cooperate closely with and support Specialist and Phytopathologist in the design optimization and implementation of new techniques, technologies, and screening protocols.
During your time as a Technician Phytopathology, you will
Provide support for phytopathology team with all aspects of disease resistance identification.
Day to day activities in greenhouse and growth chamber- plant production, irrigation, fertility and experiment maintenance.
Participate in activity planning and scheduling with Phytopathology Specialist.
Sow, transplant, inoculate, water, and fertilize carrots and onions.
Prepare pathogen growth media and produce microbes.
Clean and sanitize laboratory and greenhouse.
Collaborate with farm & facility staff to request support for technical activities.
Share weekend watering duties.
If you have...
B.S. in Biology, Horticulture, Plant Pathology or similar education or experience in plants.
At least 2 years of experience working with plants or microbes, under a variety of formats and conditions (Preferred)
Foundational understanding of plant and microbial cultivation and disease development and working knowledge of methods and equipment used by plant pathologists.
Greenhouse, growth chamber and laboratory maintenance skills (Preferred)
Proficient with sterile technique and transfer of plant pathogens.
Fluency in oral and written English.Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency is a plus.
Computer software skills: MS Office and databases.
Effective communicator, able to work independently and within a team.
Attention to detail & organization.
