BASF/Chemetall (https://www.chemetall.com/) , is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide. As a Chemist – Raw Materials you will be the Local project leader and focal point of raw material activities for Chemetall/BASF in NA.

Completing all work with a commitment & focus on following all aspects of the guiding principles of BASF Responsible Care.
Leading and executing laboratory project work on active and new raw materials at Chemetall/BASF with a primary focus on North America.
Driving laboratory related activities with priority for cost savings, risk reduction, and supply disruptions including end-use product evaluation in alignment with Product Management and Procurement.
Managing of the Chemetall/BASF raw material requirements in the region relating to business needs in alignment with Procurement, Technology and Product Management.
Managing approval processes in the technology environment to focus on harmonization, localization and risk reduction of raw materials through collaboration with global functions.
Participating in technical supplier meetings in support of the Procurement team.
Acting as the primary interface between Technology, Procurement, and Product Management.
Coordinating sample requests for R&D and raw material specific project work.
Supporting data management and changes to current raw materials.
Documenting laboratory results and supporting technical workflows.
Providing support for internal quality control regarding incoming raw materials.
Being accountable to track raw material approval projects in Technology.
If you...
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Natural or Material Sciences is required.
Experience working in a chemical laboratory, understanding of lab operations, lab terminology, lab testing, and experience with analytical equipment is required.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to understand intercultural aspects.
Team oriented, ability to collaborate and focus on project goals.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to work onsite at our New Providence, NJ location.
